In the very first interview of our new series, we talked to one of our coworkers, Peter Bastedo of Batchbank. In case you didn’t get a chance to meet Peter just yet, we’d like to introduce him to you, today:

 

So, Peter, what are you doing at 7 Labatt Place? Please tell us about yourself and your business!

BatchBank Corp. is solving information overload problems in the biotech industry.  The team is pretty small still. Thankfully we’ve got plenty of space to grow into here at 7 Labatt Place.  We spend most of our days coding and talking with future customers, but there’s still plenty of time to catch up with the neighbours.

 

What kind of advice would you give to someone, who wants to start a business?

Don’t wait for the “big idea.”  Just go out and start talking to people about problems they encounter in their lives/jobs. The big idea will find you.

 

Let’s talk a little bit about you. Just tell us some fun facts about the guy behind Batchbank?

If I wasn’t working in the biotech or IT industries, I would probably be on a farm somewhere with a big woodworking shop. Maybe we could build a shop in basement of 7 Labatt?

 

What do you like about 7 Labatt Place, our location for office space rental Toronto? 

It’s pretty great not having to deal with commercial leasing companies.  It is rare to have a family-owned building so close to downtown like this.

 

Do you have any suggestions/ambitions/ideas to make this building a better working and community environment? 

Some kind of restaurant or kitchen right in the building would be a great way to get to know others in the building.  I heard this might be closer than we think though….
